Oman to play UAE in 18th Arabian Gulf Cup final

Oman will play the United Arab Emirates in the 18th Arabian Gulf Cup final on Tuesday. Oman beat Bahrain 1-0 on Badr Al Maimani's 54th-minute goal, while UAE beat Saudi Arabia 1-0 on Ismail Matar's injury-time winner in Saturday's semifinals at the Mohammed bin Zayed stadium. Neither UAE or Oman have won the Gulf Cup. Oman lost to host Qatar on a penalty shootout in 2004 in its first and only appearance in the final.

The presidents of the football associations of the eight countries currently involved in the Arabian Gulf Cup have chosen the Sultanate of Oman to host the 19th edition in January 2009.
