China's Zheng Zhi signed by EPL Charlton Athletic

China’s captain Zheng Zhi is keen to be offered a contract with English Premier League club Charlton Athletic. He is currently playing for Shandong Luneng. He has had a trial at the London club and his Chinese club’s executive manager, Han Gongzheng, has stated that at this stage, no contract has been forthcoming, Dave Cohen reported. Gongzheng said that it was a great honour for a Chinese player to have been offered a trial with a Premier League side and it could only do Chinese football good. Zheng has been in the news of late. He was banned after attacking an official during an AFC Champions League match last November and it was his tackle that broke French striker Djibril Cisse's leg in a friendly before the World Cup.
