The Delhi Soccer Association has won praises for its implementation of the 'Delhi Vision’ program of the Asian Football Confederation. After checking the Association's agenda and inspecting local schools over two days, the AFC's Dr Jita Singh and Imtiaz Rehman reportedly left India's national capital city ‘‘satisfied’’ with the progress but advising that "a lot more need to be done". The AFC has approved several DSA initiatives including the commencement of school leagues in under-10, u-13 and u-14 (the last two for both boys and girls) sections in the second week of November 2005 as well as an ‘‘elite professional’’ league with eight teams selected from those finishing top in the annual DSA League in 2006.
Update: Rehman and Singh and All India Football Federation 'Vision India' co-ordinator Dr Shaji Prabhakaran also visited Imphal to meet with local officials including K Govindas, Minister for Youth Affairs and Sports and A Santoshkumar, president of the All Manipur Football Association. An u-13 tournament will start in Thoubal, Churachandpur and Bishnupur in August 2006 and a football development program for youth above 13 years and below 15 years will commence in Imphal West, Imphal East and Churachandpur in September. A one-day "Youth and Grassroot in Football" workshop will be organised for PSUs, NGOs and experts, a five-day training program will be conducted for coaches and teachers and a one-day clinic for referees.
